CHATHAM — Matthew Wood has been awarded the professional insurance designation Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) by The Institutes. The Institutes is an educational organization that confers the CPCU designation on persons who complete eight rigorous courses and examinations and meet its ethics and experience requirements. CPCUs are considered to be property-casualty insurance subject matter experts. All CPCUs are required to maintain and to improve their professional knowledge, skills and competence through their commitment to The Institutes’ CPCU Code of Professional Conduct.
Wood is a fourth generation Partner and President of MetzWood Insurance. In addition to his CPCU designation, Wood has also earned the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI) designations, and is currently pursuing the Certified Personal Risk Manager (CPRM) designation. He serves on the National Agent’s Advisory Council for Travelers Insurance. Additionally, he is an active member of the Agent’s Council for Technology through the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America.
Derick LaTorre has been awarded the professional insurance designation Certified Personal Risk Manager (CPRM) by The National Alliance. The CPRM designation conveys an in-depth understanding of the complex personal risks faced by affluent individuals and families. The designation was earned through successful completion of five courses and examinations.
LaTorre is a Partner of MetzWood, and manager of the Personal Insurance Department. In addition to the CPRM, he has also earned the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. LeTorre sits on the National Agent’s Advisory Council for Cincinnati Insurance and Regional Agent’s Advisory Council for Encompass, Safeco, and Utica National Insurance. He is the Chairman of the Valatie Rescue Squad and is on the Chairman of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce.
